Issue creating route from polyline feature class

I am having issues creating a route from the feature class I created. The feautre is comprised of line and arc segments. When i click the make route button, I receive an error saying:

"An error occured during the measure assignment on the route (geometry level). The operation cannot be performed on a non-simple geometry."

I ran a geometry check and it found no errors. Does anyone know why I am not being allowed to create a route?
