Clip features in model builder and write/save to the input feature class

Can anyone help me clip and delete features from a feature class using model builder with interactive input from a user? I have a line feature class as input and I have set up a feature set that will collect the polygon from a user in ArcMap. I want to basically erase these features from the input feature class. I don't however want to use the erase geoprocessing tool because I don't want to create a new output each time the model is executed. Any ideas on how to process and write back to the original feature class would be appreciated.
