Export Shapefile for AnyMap

Hi there,

I am trying to create a geoprocessing service for use with web that will allow a user to export a layer to a shapefile or cad file. I have gone through the tutorial for Clip and Ship. Is it possible to do something similar to clip and ship, but that can be used with any map service? I would like to be able to pass in a map service and a layer and export this to a shapefile, but am having trouble figuring out how to create a more generic version with no layers preselected.
